UPOINT system
Men with CPPS have a variety of symptoms. Moreover, the intensity of the symptoms varies. The researchers developed the UPOINT classification to divide patients into subgroups according to the prevalence of symptoms.
The UPOINT classification contains 6 groups of symptoms:
-
- • U – Urinary symptoms
-
- • P – Psychosocial symptoms
-
- • O – Organ-specific symptoms
-
- • I – Infection-related symptoms
-
- • N – Neurologic / systemic symptoms
- • T – Tenderness in the muscles and pelvic floor symptoms
Repeated trials of drugs have not shown a successful outcome in terms of overall improvement. However, when researchers overestimated the results in terms of improvement in a particular issue, they sometimes showed marked improvement. For example, the use of alpha-blockers such as alfuzosin or tamsulosin did not appear to have a significant effect on treatment, but an improvement in urinary symptoms was found. Patients with predominantly neuropathic pain may benefit from pregabalin and its derivatives, while other patients may not.Поділитися цим:
